Morning visit of a family-owned agriturismo where you will meet the owner that will show you, with the help of an English speaking tour guide, the estate, an old trullo where there are artifacts used by farmers in ancient times, the jazzo, where the farmers used to milk sheep and then move to the farm where you will milk a real cow!
You will then move to the cheese production area where you will learn how to make mozzarella, ricotta, giuncata cheese, produce them with the owner and learn about the art and the reason why these kinds of cheeses are produced and the origin of their names.
The activity will be then followed by a light lunch including fresh cheeses, local farm delicacies and wine. In the afternoon visit an award-winning winery in Murgia area on the slopes of Castel del Monte (UNESCO heritage site).
You will have a tour of the estate, the grape-pressing area, the underground tanks and barrels room (part of an old underground monastery!) and the shop area. The visit will be followed by a wine tasting of the best DOC wines of the Murgia area.
